Why I Became an Active Republican

I am an evangelical Christian, which shapes my world view.  Since becoming a Christian in 1981, I have been a solid Republican.  Until 2017, when I moved to Texas, I lived in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  From 1981 until 2008, I voted Republican and watched Fox New, but was not that involved in the Republican Party.

In 2008, everything changed.  Obama gave me a glimpse of the direction the “Progressive” wing of the Democratic party, and I became alarmed.  It was time for “All hands on Deck”.  I worked the phone banks for the Republican party.  I decided to become a Poll Watcher during the 2008 Elections because I was concerned about election integrity.

An Election Judge

As I worked as a Poll Watcher during the Presidential Election in 2008, I realized that all I could do was take notes and complain about what was happening at the Polling Place. I decided that the better plan was to become an Election Judge.

An Election Judge is not really a judge, but the manager of the Polling Place.  He or she is the one that makes sure that the Polling Place is run in accordance with the law, and the required paperwork is properly completed and authenticated.

My thought was that I would be an Election Worker the next election and learn how to be the Election Judge.  But the Republican Party had other plans.  I became a Presiding Election Judge during the mid-terms, completely skipping the hands-on training.  It was hard work and chaotic and very busy, but I loved it and have worked as Election Judge ever since, both in New Mexico and since I moved to Texas.

A Precinct Chair

After I moved to Texas, I also became a Republican Precinct Chair for Precinct 306 until 2024.  I registered voters, worked at Republican headquarters, worked in various Republican party committees, updated the website, and distributed door hangers to Republican voters in my precent encouraging them to vote.

A Delegate at the Republican County and State Conventions

I was a delegate to the Comal County Republican Convention in 2018, 2020, 2022, and 2024.  At the last County Convention, I was a member of the Rules Committee, and I was elected Parliamentarian of the Convention.  Some of you might remember me conducting the vote on the Resolutions proposed at the various Precinct Conventions.  I was also a delegate to the Republican State Convention in 2024.

My Involvement in Various Republican Clubs

I have been a member of various Republican Clubs in Comal County.  I am currently a member of Canyon Lake Republican Women, where I serve on the Executive Committee as Newsletter Editor and Website Editor. (Canyon Lake Republican Women is a member of the Federation of Republican Women who, in order to maintain unity in the Republican Party, does not endorse candidates in the Republican Primary.  My mention of this club should not be construed as an endorsement by CLRW as an organization.)

My Conservative Beliefs

I believe in Faith, Family, and Freedom.  I am pro-life, against open borders, and supportive of law enforcement and border patrol.  I believe in limited government.  I am pro-Israel, against mandated vaccines and crazy lockdowns, for free speech, and for the Second Amendment.  I voted for Donald Trump for President three times.  More importantly, with respect to the office I am running for, I am against judicial activism.  I believe the role any judge is to decide cases according to the laws set forth in the U.S. and Texas Constitutions and the laws enacted by Congress and the Texas Legislature.
